Two arrested in Papung Nayu death case

ITANAGAR, Jun 26: Two persons, namely Toki Taloh and Yumli Padu have been arrested on Sunday in connection with the death of one Papung Nayu, and were produced before the CJM court in Yupia on Monday.
The two have been arrested as suspects on the basis of CCTV camera footage of Waii International Hotel and Poongnest Bar.
According to the CCTV footage, Toki was with Papung in the same room of the hotel at the time of the incident,
while Padu had an altercation with Papung in the bar barely an hour before the incident, informed a police official. The police official said that the two were arrested to facilitate a thorough investigation of the case.
It was also informed that one person from Nagaland was also questioned regarding the case, while another from Manipur has been called for questioning. Both came to Itanagar regarding a car deal with Papung.
Speaking to this daily, the family of late Papung also claimed that he was murdered in cold blood and refuted reports that he committed suicide.
Younger brother of Papung, Prem Nayu claimed that "the incident cannot be of suicide and is clearly a murder".

Meanwhile, the police informed that investigations are underway and they are awaiting the post mortem report to ascertain the cause of death.

City police clueless on Taying's murder case

On claims that Taying's friends had provided the vehicle model, colour and registration number, the police informed The Arunachal Times that the vehicle number provided was incorrect.

According to the police, a major setback in late Taying's death case is the difficulty of tracing vehicles and culprits from CCTV footage. The strategic locations of CCTV cameras in the Capital Complex were reportedly verified and watched by the police, but there is not much evidence to give the police any concrete leads.
Reportedly, on the night of June 10, two unidentified persons allegedly assaulted late Taying with a block of wood, following which he succumbed to his injuries. An FIR has been lodged with Itanagar Police Station.

ITANAGAR, Jun 26: International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed in different parts of the state, raising awareness about the dangers posed by illicit drugs to the society and individual users.

The Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society observed the day in association with Donyi Polo Vidya Bhavan School, involving more than 300 students and teachers of the school.
A seminar was organized, wherein APSACS (IEC) Deputy Director, Tashor Pali explained in detail about the importance of the day which serves as a reminder of the need to fight the problems posed by illicit drugs.

Rinpoche also responded to various queries put forth by the participants during the interaction session, which included explanations on effect of previous karma on present lives, different sects in Buddhism, religion as a means of social control, and change in relevance of religion with the advent of new laws.

Longding gets 33 KV line connection
Longding, Jun 26: Longding town has been successfully charged with 33KV line from Khonsa, enabling denizens to get sufficient power supply, informed Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Gupta.
The DC added that the connection of 33 KV line was possible with the help of Education Minister Honchun Nangdam and Parliamentary Secretary Power Thangwang Wangham.
Earlier, Longding town was receiving power supply from Assam via Kanubari through 11KV line, which was insufficient for remote villages like Pungchau and Wakka. Dear Editor,
Through your esteem daily, on behalf of the parents in the remotest regions would like to draw your kind attention that the state government has made Aadhar card as compulsory for students in every schools in the state. Indeed, it is appreciable initiative taken by the state govt. However, after imposing the Aadhar card as mandatory in the schools, the various school Headmaster in charge as well as students of the far flung regions are being faced a lot of untold problem as some of the administrative circles headquarters do not have roads, electricity. Even govt has asked the students of class VI onwards to open bank account in their name and the same Xerox copy should be submitted to the concern School Headmaster in charge. And to open thereof they have to walk on foot 100 to 150 Km to reach the District Headquarter. Sometimes, they can’t even open accounts for various reasons.
In such circumstance, what can the poor student do?
It is also pertinent to mention that most of the parents of the students are living
below property line and their wards are solely depending on hostel stipends for their
food and cloths especially remotest regions of the state like Pip-
Hence, I would like to appeal to the state govt and concern Deputy Commissioner of the district to constitute a special team and deploy them with equipment to carry out aadhar card enrolment in the far flung regions of the state.

Vulgar exploitation of demographic equation

This is in response to the editorial titled "Caste politics"(June 23) and Insaf's article titled "Battle for Rashtrapati"(June 24).
I don't care about the educational qualifications of Ram Nath Kovind and Meira Kumar.
A person's worth needs to be judged on the basis of his/her honesty, values, sincerity,
neutrality, dignity, humility, humanity and efficiency and these traits are not a
bit dependent upon mere academic degree. Else we would have to conclude that the
"highly educated" Osama Bin Laden and various other similarly "academically brilliant"
terrorists are persons of greater quality than certificate-
In an ideal situation, I don't care about the demographic status of the Presidential
candidates because all persons in the globe are born equal and all can excel in their
respective fields if they desire to do so. Only a supreme casteist and inhumanitarian
can only claim that Dalits are not eligible for non-
So Kovind or Kumar, if elected President, might perform brilliantly just like Pranab Mukherjee. Moreover, though I am not aware of Kovind's quality and deed vividly, but well acquainted of Kumar's personality. She is a very humble gentle smiling dignified civilized lady(unlike the politicians throughout the length and breadth of the country) who had performed the role of Lok Sabha Speaker with utmost grace and civility. So personally, I would feel elated to see her on the Presidential Chair.
But unfortunately the whole process of Presidential race has indeed left a very bad taste in our mouths because it is being contested not on the basis of merit; but scandalously on sheer caste basis which is extremely unfortunate.
When Pranab Mukherjee got nominated for Presidentship ; his Bengali, Brahmin or Hindu origin neither mattered nor did it come into the picture. But in the present case, it is the "projection on Dalits" all along! That too of "Bihar vs UP" vintage! This directly proves that the main inspiration behind their nominations are their caste identities(regional credentials also in a subtle way) instead of their qualities which is extremely unfortunate.
On the one hand, we will zealously claim "We are all Indians"; on the other hand,

Last week on June 22nd, a blood donation camp was organized on first anniversary of passing away of Late likha Teji at Banderdewa in which 25 units of blood was donated by family of late Teji.
We thank the donor family in general and Ramesh Jeke in particular, whose immense effort led to this extra ordinary donation of vital fluid.
Moved by death of a girl child ,due to lack of blood caused Ramesh Jeke to think sincerely for establishing group of voluntary blood donors that led to formation of Arunachal Vivekananda Yuva Shakti [AVYS] ,a non profit voluntary organization in 26/11/2008 .
Ramesh was 17 yrs old. Now he has more than 1100 volunteers in all of arunachal.
